Welp, it appears it's Kenhina week and I have nothing prepared. I'm going to see if I can slap something out before it's over, but in the meantime, have some of my old work!

I have a series of Kenhina oneshots I'm working on with two entries in it so far. It's a modern magic/university AU with a lot of humor and some minor curses.

• "Elementary Cursebreaking: Lab" is a modern magic/university AU based on this tumblr prompt. Features overworked CVS employee Kenma and both the best and most harrowing night of Hinata's life. Blood and vomit cw. Rating: T
• "Necromancy for Prospective Students" is a sequel to "Elementary Cursebreaking: Lab" about Natsu's dead fish and other things Kenma isn't paid enough to deal with. Hinata is very grateful and also impressed. Rating: T
• "Rare Furniture" is some fluff I wrote for a friend's birthday about Kenhina stargazing! It also comes with art by my friend Riin which you can see here!

“I need help," Yaku says. "Do you really teach people how to play the fiddle?”

“Better than anyone else in the whole world.” Suga says. “Like wind through the strings, to make trees dance and waterfalls flow backwards.” He grins up at Yaku. “Does that sound like what you’re looking for?”

Yaku swallows. “It does.”

“Excellent.”

Day 2 - Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.

This one's actually pretty fun, because I have in my bookmarks one fuck-off-long fic for every fandom that's taken up a major space in my life, so while none of these are quick reads, I love them a lot and I do keep coming back to them.

Atlas by distractedKat: Star Trek, Kirk/Spock, 135529 words, complete

A novel-length continuation of the 2009 movie, written before the next two movies. A heartfelt study of Jim Kirk, Spock, and all their friends. Features great character voice, an excellent romantic arc, and geniuses and badasses everywhere. There was a period where I had a hard time finding new trek fic because I couldn't bring myself to stop rereading this fic.

Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns by chancecraz: Star Wars, Han/Leia, 563,802 words, ongoing with extras.

Time-travel fix-it. Leia goes to sleep on the day Han dies, and wakes up back on the Death Star, and goes back righting as many wrongs as she can. Beautiful in-depth authentic star wars with a lot of focus on platonic and familial relationships as well as the main pairing, alongside a well-executed plot that really treats the time travel well and not ever as a contrived deux ex machina. Beautiful worldbuilding as well.

but for me, there is a storm by Authoress: Pacific Rim/Haikyuu, Multiship, 276138 words, complete.

Brilliant Haikyuu Pacific Rim Au. Main focus is Kagehina, but there's multiple ships everywhere. The worldbuilding is great, the science is great, the dramatic tension and the romance are both great, but mind the warnings. Authoress is great at making you feel lots of things so mind the warnings, because every beat that hits, hits hard.

Chasing the C/h/atwalk. by Inkkerfuffle: Miraculous Ladybug, Marinette/Adrien, 112395 words, complete with extras.

Post-canon au where Marinette gets to go on Project Runway, and Adrien is her model. Hilarity ensues. Inkkerfuffle has great comedic sense, and drags out the romantic tension wonderfully. I got distracted halfway through this list and reread it.

Caravan by carriecmoney: Avatar/Haikyuu, Multiship (with Daichi), 162187 words, complete with extras.

Hands down the best last airbender fic I've ever read, and in my top 3 Haikyuu fics. Carrie's strength is characterization and small stories in big worlds. The worldbuilding is phenomenal and the plot is excellent, but her character writing is some of the best I've seen.

bell, book, and candle by skittydyne: Haikyuu, Multiship, 762901 words, complete with extras.

Excellent modern magic au. Skitty has a great sense of character, a spectacularly-handled ensemble cast, and their worldbuilding is top-tier. This one will have you at the edge of your seat the whole time. I'd recommend this one even if you're not into haikyuu, or you could just wait until skitty publishes the original-fiction version of this.

Fairy Dance of Death by Catsy: Sword Art Online, Kirito/Asuna, 558766 words, ongoing.

Look. Look. If you like SAO at all, read this fic. Catsy does SAO better than SAO does SAO. This is the anime we should have had.

To the Stars by Hieronym: Madoka, Gen, 693711 words, ongoing.

To The Stars is a brilliant space opera with original characters so good I looked them up in the wiki expecting to find a page for them. Great worldbuilding and plot that doesn't come at the cost of characterization. Post-canon, and somehow still canon compliant, excluding rebellion.

"What now?” Kenma asks.

Shouyou flops back and tucks his arms under his head. “Now we lie down and wait.”

Kenma does the same with a bit more grace. “So I can go back to sleep?”

“You can absolutely not go back to sleep!” Shouyou squawks. “I want you to see this.”

“See what?” Kenma asks, to be a brat.

“This!” Shouyou waves his arms up at the sky. “One of the very few good things about living in a tiny mountain town is all the stars. I wanted you to see.”

Day 5 | Secrets/Truth

“What are you angsting about?” Suga asks, reaching over to steal a bite of Daichi’s lunch.

Daichi yanks his bento away. “I’m not angsting. I’m reasonably worried with real justification for it.”

Suga giggles. “So you are angsting.” He reaches over and, despite Daichi’s best efforts, steals another bite. “What’s going on? Is it the practice match?”

“Eat your own!” Daichi slams the lid on his lunch in the hopes of having a conversation without distractions. “I’m worried about you.”

“I’m not even playing in the match, Daichi.” Suga brushes him off, giving Daichi a playful tap on the nose. “Shouldn’t you be worried about yourself? Or our new players?"

Day 4 | Past/Future

Asahi gently set his teacup on the table and fixed Koushi with the sternest stare he could muster. “Suga,” he said.

“I know,” Koushi whined.

“If Daichi is the king of grand romantic gestures, you’re is the king of grand romantic gestures blowing up in your face.”

“I know.”

“How many times have you almost set your own apartment on fire?”

“Asahi oh my god.” Koushi hid his face in his hands. “Stop, please. You’re not helping.”

Summary:

The sun rises on the final day of Daichi and Suga's last finals week, and Suga still hasn't slept. That's okay, though. Daichi made tea.

It's been 80 million years since I last wrote YW fic, but I'm excited about moving to dreamwidth, and so far I've only managed to find the YW community on here, so It looks like we get to see all my YW fic again. Here's my gift for independence1776 from the 2013 Christmas in July Exchange. Maybe with the active comm I might put together something new.
