It's become truer than ever that my happy place is people, but there are a few places that just recharge me even if all I can do is think about them:
The Jemez mountains, especially in fall. I love the trees, the creek, the canyons, the hot springs, the wide open space of the caldera. It fills my soul more than anywhere else. It's been my favorite day trip ever since I was a kid, and I almost have to go there in fall now, for the aspens. I feel a kind of kinship with them, kind of.
I do also like to nest and make my space mine. I get some recharge from it after decorating and really feeling like I've made it mine, but coming back to live at home after college feels like wearing clothes that don't fit anymore. I'm excited to move in january and get to nest properly again. I felt more at home in my college dorm room than I do in my childhood bedroom.
The other really big one is music. Live music especially, but I've got quite a few artists and playlists that just feel like home to me. Oh My Girl is the first new one, but P!atD, Loona, The Killers, Gaelic Storm, Bastille all speak to me. Lyrically is the most important, but the sound means a lot too.
And then, of course, my people.
